Defining the problem
EMERITUS set out to expand its executive and professional learning portfolio by offering advanced, globally relevant programs in AI and innovation. The challenge was to create learning experiences that were not only intellectually robust but also actionable across a wide variety of industries and leadership roles. Many professionals, including decision-makers, lacked the strategic frameworks and technical fluency to translate AI into value for their organisations.
Senior leaders in particular required clear, evidence-based guidance on how to align AI with their digital transformation agendas, while also considering governance, ethics, and long-term impact. EMERITUS needed a content partner that could deliver academically grounded, industry-aware learning at scale. SOPHIA met this need with a tailored curriculum that combined strategic leadership development with practical AI literacy.
Our Solution
SOPHIA developed and delivered a comprehensive suite of programs covering AI fundamentals, data readiness, leadership in digital transformation, and sector-specific applications of Generative AI. Each training experience was co-designed with a global network of academic institutions, including Harvard School of Medicine, MIT, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, Columbia University, Cambridge University, Imperial College London, Indian School of Business, Northwestern University, and IIM Calcutta.
The programs blended executive-level insight with hands-on components, including applied case studies, regulatory discussions, and tool-based learning. Leadership-focused modules helped participants understand how to frame AI within organisational strategy, lead digital change, and foster innovation within complex environments.
Impact
More than 5,000 professionals, including over 1,000 senior leaders, completed the programs across four continents. Many went on to initiate internal AI projects, enhance their digital strategies, or collaborate with SOPHIA
through additional consulting engagements. The training helped translate theory into business value, while empowering leaders to confidently shape their organisations’ AI journeys.
