Defining the Problem

MITx and Emeritus identified a gap in leadership education for tech executives navigating fast-paced innovation, organisational scaling, and emerging technologies. The goal was to create a program that could help CEOs of tech companies sharpen their strategic decision-making, deepen their understanding of disruptive technologies like AI, and enhance their ability to lead in volatile and competitive environments.
The challenge was to translate MIT’s academic excellence into a digital format that could match the demands of busy C-level executives, delivering not just insight but transformation.

Our Solutions

In collaboration with Emeritus, SOPHIA served as subject matter experts, co-developing the MITx Tech CEO Program. Working closely with MIT faculty, SOPHIA helped shape a year-long curriculum combining leadership theory, cutting-edge technology insight, and practical applications.
The program was delivered entirely online, blending asynchronous lectures, live faculty sessions, peer learning, and applied assignments.
We embedded real-world case studies, AI and innovation frameworks, and decision-making simulations tailored to the needs of top executives. The course focused on how to scale companies, lead digital transformation, and harness emerging technologies like AI and blockchain for long-term advantage.

Impact

The program launched successfully and now trains around 500 executives annually from leading tech firms across the globe. It has empowered decision-makers to lead with clarity in uncertain times and to build resilient, future-ready organisations.
Feedback consistently highlights the balance between MIT’s intellectual rigour and SOPHIA’s ability to connect theory to practical leadership in the tech sector.
