Defining the Problem

Like many large organizations exploring AI, Mubadala faced a familiar gap: enthusiasm for AI’s potential was high, but practical, role-specific capability across teams was not yet in place. Generic training could build awareness, but it would not change how people actually worked day to day.
The challenge was not simply to teach employees what AI could do in theory. It was to help each division understand its own workflows, identify where AI could create real leverage, and build the skills and confidence to apply it immediately, safely, and in a way tailored to how that division actually operates.

Our Solutions

SOPHIA designed a connected, multi-track enablement program that combines applied training with hands-on implementation, rolled out one division at a time across the organization:

  • Applied Copilot Training: Role-relevant sessions on Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Agent Builder, giving participants prompts, patterns, and automations they could put to use right away, not abstract theory.
  • AI Enablement Workshops: Each workshop was built around a specific division’s own processes. We mapped how the team worked today, identified where AI created genuine leverage, and redesigned those workflows together with the team.
  • Leadership Programs: A dedicated track for leaders, focused on where AI creates value, how to prioritize initiatives, and how to sponsor and guide adoption across their teams.
  • AI Agent Hackathons: A “from learning to launch” format where a division is taught how to build AI agents, then builds them together with SOPHIA: designing, building, testing, and launching agents shaped around that department’s specific needs.
  • The AI Agents & Change Management Accelerator: focused on turning AI investment into results by pairing the people side of change with the AI-agent side of the work. Participants learn how lead the shift and create working capability.
  • Specialized Programs: Focused on advanced and highly specialized AI topics, including AI security, RAG architectures, open-source versus proprietary models, context engineering, privacy, and secure AI deployment.

Impact

The program is currently live and scaling:

  • 4 connected tracks delivered under a single, coherent enablement framework
  • 5 AI Enablement Workshops and 6 AI Agent Hackathon successfully delivered
  • Leadership programs launching next, extending capability building to senior sponsors
  • Further workshops and hackathons already in the pipeline as the program expands division by division

What began as a training engagement is becoming an operating capability: divisions across Mubadala are building and deploying their own agents, with leadership equipped to sponsor and scale adoption across the wider organization.
